01 Service · Supported Independent Living

A home that's yours — with support that fits your life.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is help with the everyday tasks of living in your own home or a shared setting. It's about building the skills and confidence to live the way you want — not fitting into someone else's routine.

What SIL support
looks like

What's included
Day-to-day support

Daily routines & personal care

Morning and evening routines, personal care, medication prompts and support that respects your dignity and privacy.

Household & living skills

Cooking, cleaning, budgeting and shopping — building the skills to run your own home your way.

Community & connection

Getting to appointments, work, study and social activities — staying part of the community you choose.

Overnight & on-call support

From a few hours a week to active overnight support — matched to what your plan funds and what you need.

Health & wellbeing

Coordinating appointments, supporting healthy habits and keeping other providers in the loop.

Building independence

Every support is aimed at one thing: growing your capacity to do more for yourself, over time.

Who it's for

SIL may suit you if…

You want to live in your own place, with the right support around you.

You need regular help with daily tasks to live safely and independently.

You'd like to build skills to become more independent over time.

Your NDIS plan includes SIL or Core Supports funding.

Not sure if you qualify?

Think you might be eligible for SIL? We'll help you get there.

A strong application, built together

Already have a support coordinator and team? Our experienced coordinators work alongside them — complementing the work you're already doing, never taking it over. And if you don't have a team yet, we can help you build one, with providers you choose. Either way, we help gather the right evidence and put forward a clear, compelling case for SIL funding.

Help finding the right home

We partner with many Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) providers across Australia — so if you need somewhere to live, we can help you find a home that suits you and receive your Ellira SIL supports there.

Common questions

Good to know

Is SIL the same as accommodation?

No. SIL funds the support you receive, not the rent or home itself. We can work alongside your existing living arrangement or an SDA home.

Can I choose who supports me?

Yes. Fit matters. We introduce you to your support team and adjust if it's not right — this is your home.

What if my needs change?

Your support scales up or down as your goals and circumstances change. We'll also help you prepare for plan reviews.
