02 Area of support · Mental Health & Recovery

Toward the life you want.

Recovery-focused support that starts with real understanding. Whether you want a coach to build capacity and work toward goals, or someone with their own lived experience walking beside you - this is support that sees the person, not the diagnosis.

Understanding first. Always.

Psychosocial disability is the NDIS's term for the way a mental health condition can affect everyday life - energy, routines, relationships, the confidence to leave the house on a hard day. It's the part of mental health that treatment alone doesn't fix, and it's exactly what this side of Ellira exists for.

Our mental health and recovery supports are recovery-oriented in the real sense: built on the evidence that people do recover - not always in a straight line, and not on anyone else's schedule. That shapes everything practical about how we work. Support plans are written around your goals rather than your diagnosis. Setbacks are planned for, not punished - a rough month doesn't reset the relationship or the progress. And capacity-building is genuine: the aim is always that you need us less over time, not more.

What makes this team different is who's on it. Many of our workers bring their own lived experience of mental health recovery alongside their qualifications - which changes the feel of support in ways that are hard to overstate. There's no need to perform wellness, no explaining from scratch, and no pretending the hard parts aren't hard. If clinical care is part of your picture, our psychology team connects into the same conversations - and we coordinate with your existing GP, psychiatrist or community mental-health team rather than working around them.

Getting mental health support funded by the NDIS has its own quirks - eligibility runs on functional impact rather than diagnosis, and the paperwork rewards knowing how it works. Our guides to psychosocial eligibility and NDIS mental health services cover it in plain language, and our free NDIS access support exists for exactly this.

Common questions

Things people ask us first

Which Ellira mental health support is the right starting point?

Recovery coaching may suit you when you want structured capacity-building around psychosocial recovery. Peer support may suit you when lived-experience connection and practical side-by-side support matters most. Psychology is the clinical therapy option if that is what your plan funds and you want it.

How are mental health supports funded through the NDIS?

The NDIS looks at functional impact and plan goals, not just a diagnosis. Recovery coaching is Capacity Building, peer support may sit under Core or Capacity Building, and psychology is usually Capacity Building through Improved Daily Living or therapeutic supports.

Can Ellira work with my current mental health team?

Yes, with your consent. We can work alongside your GP, psychologist, psychiatrist, community mental-health team, support coordinator, family supports or existing providers. You choose what information is shared.

What happens in the first conversation?

The first step is a free intake call or referral form. We talk about what is happening now, what support you already have, what your plan funds and which Ellira service might fit.

Whatever you're carrying, you don't carry it alone.

Make a referral or book a free intake call - we'll talk through what would help and find the right fit for you. No pressure, no obligation.
