For families & carers

Caring for someone is a job you never clock off from. We can share it.

Whether you're a parent, partner, sibling or friend, you're probably here because someone you love needs more support than you can give alone. Here's how we work with families — and how we look after carers, too.

How it works with family involved

Involved, without taking over

Good support makes family life easier, not more crowded. When we support someone, our job includes making the whole arrangement work — which usually means clear communication with the people who care about them, at whatever level the person themselves chooses.

At intake we ask the person directly: who can we talk to, about what? That consent is theirs to give, shape and withdraw. Families sometimes find this confronting — but it's the foundation that makes everything else trustworthy. When someone knows their support team respects their choices, they let support in further. That's better for everyone, including you.

Where formal arrangements exist — a nominee, a guardian, supported decision-making — we work within them, and we always support the person to make every decision they're able to make themselves.

What we can take off your plate

Support that supports you too

Daily-life support that gives you back time — and lets you be family instead of full-time carer.

Community access so their world isn't only as big as your capacity to drive.

Recovery coaching and peer support for mental-health recovery that doesn't all rest on you.

Supported independent living when the next step is their own place — planned together, at the right pace.

Support coordination so someone else fights the plan-admin battles.

Family & carer support programs — including our carer workshops and family peer connections. Ask us what's running.

Common questions

What families ask us

Can I make a referral for someone else?

Yes — family members and carers make many of our referrals. The form asks whether the person has consented; if they haven't yet, you can still start the conversation and we'll handle consent properly at intake.

Will you keep me in the loop?

That's the person's choice, made clearly at intake and changeable any time. With their consent, we share what they want shared. Without it, we don't — that's their right, and protecting it protects your relationship with them too.

What if the person doesn't want support yet?

Pushing rarely works, and we won't. What we can do: talk with you about approaches, be ready when they're ready, and support you in the meantime — carers matter too.

What decision-making support exists if capacity is complicated?

The NDIS recognises nominees, guardians and supported decision-making. Tell us the arrangement in the referral and we'll work within it — and we always support the person to make every decision they can make themselves.
